Production of refined oil products increased by 3.3% in 2022, spurred by OECD producers.
In 2022, the global production of refined oil products increased by 3.3%, a slower rate than in 2021 (+4.9%) but much faster than over the 2010-2019 period (+1.1%/year). The production growth of refined oil products was driven by OECD countries (+5%) such as the United States (+5.2%), the EU (+5.4%, especially in Italy, France, Germany and Spain), the UK (+12%), South Korea (+6.7%) and Japan (+6.2%). It also increased in Saudi Arabia (+9.3%), in India (+4.8%) and in Latin America (+8.2%, including +7.2% in Brazil and +14% in Mexico). On the other hand, production contracted in China (-1.8% in a context of sluggish oil demand and zero-COVID policy), in Russia (-2.6%) and in Africa (-2.2%, due to lower output in South Africa and Egypt, despite a 3.9% hike in Algeria).
