Share of renewables in primary consumption

The share of renewables in primary consumption is very high in developing countries and low in OECD countries (around 7%)

.

Africa remains the region

with the highest share

of renewables in energy consumption

(close to 46%), due to its high use of wood by households. The weight of

renewables in Latin America is high too (25%)

; sustained by the high use of the hydroelectricity potential. Renewables are diffusing in OECD countries in particular solar and wind.
