Crude oil production corresponds to gross production.

Petroleum products are all liquid hydrocarbons, obtained by the refining of crude oil and NGL and by treatment of natural gas, in particular, LPG production (Liquid Petroleum Gas) includes LPG from natural gas separation plants. The alcohol used as motor fuel in Brazil as well as fuels derived from coal in South Africa are not included in oil products.

Refined oil products production

The world output of refined products was reduced by 2% during 2009

. Production in OECD countries (above 50% of the total) fell twice faster than the world average, mostly due to a 7-8% cut in both Europe and Japan's productions. In the USA, production was reduced to a lesser measure (-1.6%). In developing countries, refined products

production also decreased (up to 3% in Africa)

or slightly increased (CIS), except in

Asia where production grew by 1% in 2009

. The Chinese output

of refined products surged by 7% since the economy

continued to develop rapidly during the year. In the Middle East,

production posted a considerable drop in Iran and UAE

while Saudi Arabia increased volumes of refined oil products by 2%.
